Community Development

Non-profit leadership

Supporting the arts in my community through leadership positions is an expression of gratitude.  We are blessed with so much local talent.

As President of Camerata Winds (2000-2007) and Development Director of the Dallas Chamber Symphony (2012-2015) I designed and funded subscription and outreach programs benefitting underserved and at-risk individuals and  communities.

Partnerships linking those groups with health and human services  organizations continue today at Grace Presbyterian Retirement Village, Catholic Charities senior center, and the Dallas County Juvenile Department.

Corporate concerts

Through 45-60 minute breakfast, lunch, or happy-hour concerts, employees are uplifted and inspired by the arts AND learn more about the business of music.

Takeaways include new understandings of group dynamics, leadership, and ways to enjoy classical music.

Let me know how I can enrich your workday and workforce through a solo presentation or chamber music concert!

Outreach for all ages

My classes and workshops have reached audiences of all ages in partnership with Big Thought, Camerata Winds, Dallas Chamber Symphony, Dallas Public Library,  the Clarinet Colloquium, and the Plano Symphony.

Allow me to craft a concert specific to your needs or choose from one of my current offerings:

Bach to the Future~

a brief music history survey

1 reed, 2 reed, Big reed, Small reed~  single and double reed instruments

Windsong~

music for soprano, clarinet, and piano

Grant writing

I love the challenge of understanding complex needs and finding ways to support the same.

Past awards include grants from the City of Dallas (CPP/COP), Dallas Foundation, Juror Fund, King Foundation, Moody Fund for the Arts, TACA,  TACA Bowdon & Embrey Family Foundations Fund, and the Texas Commission on the Arts.

An NEA Our Town Grant I designed with the City of Dallas enlivened underused spaces with 22 live chamber music over 2 years at DART stations, hospitals, downtown office buildings, homeless shelters, and city parks on both sides of the Trinity.

Musical diplomacy

Through my concerts abroad, I have witnessed the impact of music diplomacy and deepened my commitment to the same.

In 2014 I was a guest artist at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music's Winter Academy.  The friendships made continue to inspire and enrich my life.

In 2017 I joined Teach to Learn, a program pairing educators with students around the globe to encourage education and cultural understanding through music.

Let's collaborate!

I welcome new partnerships to bring the arts to interested and underserved communities and to build

compassion and understanding.
